FotoFabrika presents: Kostis Argyriadis in Sofia

FotoFabrika is delighted to welcome the Greek photographer Kostis Argyriadis for a special talk and presentation of his photobooks.
Kostis is a graduate of the ESP Photography School, where he studied on a scholarship under the mentorship of Stratos Kalafatis.

Kostis Argyriadis

He has contributed his photographs to several publications, and his work has been showcased at major international festivals, including Looking at Time Through Moments: Photographs 1900–2017 at the Museum of European Cultures in Berlin, Circulation(s) in Paris, Balkans Today: The Present of a Wounded Landscape in Athens, the Estate Fotografia SiracUS Festival in Italy, and Projet 102 in Paris. He has held numerous solo exhibitions in Greece and abroad, and his works are part of the collections of the Municipal Gallery of Fine Arts in Thessaloniki and the School of Political Sciences at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

During the event, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the creation of his photobooks Every Day, Every City(Agra Publications) and DD-MM-YYYY, and to engage in a conversation about how a photographic series becomes a book.

Argyriadis builds his artistic vision upon the “poetry” of everyday urban life. Human forms and traces of nature intertwine with fragments of the authors’ memories. All these elements create a new micro-universe, where each answer generates a new question, forming an ongoing cycle of introspection. Reflecting on his creative moments, the photographer realizes that every image can reveal much more than what we assume life has to offer.

The presentation of Kostis Argyriadis' work in Sofia is part of FotoFabrika’s project Neighbours and our ongoing collaboration with the Visual Arts International Festival (VAIF) in Thessaloniki. It is part of our efforts to build a long-term cultural and educational bridge between photographers and audiences in Greece and Bulgaria.
